File written notice of intent with county superintendent

Before you start homeschooling (or within 30 days of starting), submit a written notice of intent to your county school district superintendent. After the first year, you must refile by August 1 each year.

Maintain a portfolio of records and work samples

Throughout the school year, keep a log of your child's educational activities and collect samples of their work. This portfolio is your ongoing record of home education.

Have portfolio evaluated annually by an approved evaluator

Once a year, have your child's portfolio reviewed by a Florida-certified teacher, a licensed psychologist, or another approved evaluator to assess educational progress.

Submit letter of compliance to superintendent by June 30

By June 30 each year, send a letter of compliance (not the portfolio itself) to your county school district superintendent confirming that the annual evaluation has been completed.
