Begin homeschooling without filing notice
Illinois does not require you to notify your school district or register with any state agency before you start homeschooling. You may begin immediately, as your home school is treated as a private school under state law.

Teach all required subjects
Your homeschool curriculum must cover Language Arts, Mathematics, Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences, Social Sciences, History, Geography, Health, Physical Education, and Fine Arts at a level equivalent to what public schools provide.

Maintain attendance records
Keep a regular log of your child's attendance, just as a private school would. This record documents that your child is receiving consistent instruction and is not truant.
