File yearly notification with local superintendent

Each year, submit a notification to your local school district superintendent to inform them that you are homeschooling your child. This must be done annually before or at the start of each school year.

Verify teaching parent holds high school diploma or GED

The parent responsible for providing instruction must hold a valid high school diploma or GED. Make sure you have this credential on hand before you begin homeschooling.

Teach all required subjects

Your homeschool curriculum must cover Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Health, Physical Education, and Fine Arts. Make sure your lesson plans address each of these subjects throughout the school year.

Administer annual standardized test

Your child must be assessed each year using a standardized test. Arrange for an approved test to be administered to your child once per school year.

Submit standardized test scores to superintendent

After your child completes the annual standardized test, send the results to your local school district superintendent. This submission is required each year.

Maintain immunization records

Keep your child's up-to-date immunization records on file. You may be required to present these records, so store them in a safe and accessible place.
