Notify your local Education Service District (ESD)
Before your first day of homeschool instruction each year, submit a notification to your local Education Service District (ESD). You must do this every year, not just the first year.

Teach all required subjects
Your homeschool curriculum must cover Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Health, and Physical Education each year.

Administer annual assessment starting at grade 3
Beginning in third grade, your child must be assessed every year using either a standardized test or another approved evaluation method.

Submit assessment results to the ESD
After your child completes their annual assessment, send the results to your local Education Service District (ESD). Be aware that if scores fall below the 15th percentile for two years in a row, your child may be required to attend a traditional school.
